About Me

This writer loves living in the historic North East region of England. She also loves the wider areas of Britain and has travelled widely in the world.

She lives with her husband and near her son in her beautiful South Durham in a Victorian house  in  an historical town and landscape all of which have featured in more than one of her novels.

She writes letters to her grandson who has bucked the family’s literary trend and is researching for his PhD in science. She spends time with her son who is an historian with practical and creative inclinations. She also spends special time in North London with her daughter Debora who is a food editor, a writer, and an all-round good egg

 Some comments on Wendy's writing

‘A powerful writer’ Mail on Sunday

‘Not only is Wendy Robertson a great storyteller, she fills her books with characters with real depth’ Northern Echo

‘Skilfully marries fact and fiction into an epic tale that has you turning the pages at high speed to match the pace of this compelling story’ Sunderland Echo

‘A blend of accessibility and total sincerity’ Pat Barker

‘Wendy Robertson is a rare breed – a writer with an exquisite gift for creating vivid, relateable female characters’ Scottish Daily Record

‘A terrific read. A world on the cusp of change and we experience it intimately.’ Historical Novels Review.

Wendy sees herself as a novelist of ideas as well as story. Although her touch is light it is clear that her academic background in Sociology, Psychology and History also has some impact on  her fiction.

After relishing and surviving academic life, Bishop Auckland writer Wendy  Robertson has published more than twenty novels and two short story collections and ran Bishop FM’s Writing Game for two years. More recently, as part of Room To Write, http://roomtowritepublishing.wordpress.com/  she has run workshops on the Short Story, the Novel and The Novella. She writes about her writing in her blog Writing Life Twice Tasted, http://lifetwicetasted.blogspot.co.uk/

A prime time for her as the five years on and off Writer in Residence at HMP Low Newton, encouraging a wide range of women to raise their self-esteem and realise their personal and career potential through original writing. Her novel Paulie’s Web was inspired  from this experience.

She also mentors new writers and speaks at writing workshops and conferences. As  a member of the collective Room To Write Publishing she had now plunged into the creative experience of independent publishing established to  encourage new and existing writers

She posts  about her books, her  writing process and her writing life on her blog -  http://www.lifetwicetasted.blogspot.co.uk/.  This averages   10, 000 views a month by  writers, readers and very  many very other interesting people.
